Are you an adventure-loving, wanderlust kind of couple whose biggest dream is to travel the world and explore all this planet has to offer together? Then maybe you need a wedding styled after your passion for exploration. Here’s your ultimate guide to a travel themed wedding.

This part is fairly simple. Brides and grooms can wear whatever they please for a travel themed wedding (unless you want to find some fun travel accessories—like an airplane brooch or a map-print bow tie). That’s the fun part about a travel-themed wedding: you can have classic, traditional attire.

There are plenty of travel-themed wedding cakes out there, but here are some of my favorite styles. The first features a map of the world encircling the cake with other complimentary designs—like stripes and flowers. Another style features different landmarks from across the globe. The next style has the layers of cake shaped like traveling trunks and suitcases. Pick your favorite or get a cake that combines all three!

After searching up dozens of images for travel-themed weddings, you start coming across a fairly similar theme for decorations: trunks, globes, and passport style table centerpieces. These themes can be infused in your wedding. Some more fun ideas are to have each reception table be a different destination or have guests sign a globe instead of a more traditional guest book. Don’t forget to have a photo booth so guests can put their pictures on their passport style invitations!

And speaking of invitations … there are two ways you could go: 1) Go simple and have straightforward invitations with some travel elements—like a map background or compass graphics. 2) Style your invitations like a passport with the bride and groom’s pictures and all of the information about the location and times on a plane ticket.

And finally, the favors. Here are some of my favorite ideas that are a collection of typical favors with a travel-themed edge and other travel-specific gifts. From compass coasters to actual compasses or luggage tags, pick your favorite adorable (and useful) favor that your guests will love.

So whether the bride and groom are first class world travelers or just love the idea of exploring the world, a travel-themed wedding is a simple and fun way to add an extra edge to your special day and make all of your guests feel as if they are going on this fantastic adventure with you!
